Learn Sibelius in 1 hour - Lesson 1

Before you begin the course, you’ll need to do a few things. Firstly, if you’re using a laptop, you are strongly advised to plug in a full sized USB keyboard which will make Sibelius easy to learn. Two of the twelve lessons require a MIDI keyboard, but if you don’t have one you can just miss those lessons out.

Secondly, you need to download this PDF of the opening of Beethoven’s third Symphony (“Eroica”) which is what you will copy into Sibelius through the series of lessons as you learn. Print it out and put it somewhere easy to copy. The best way to complete each lesson is to watch the short video, and then try it out yourself straight away.

In this first video you will learn how to set up the score in Sibelius.
